Disney California Adventure: A Theme Park Redeemed

Image
Disney California Adventure's New Gate and Entrance  It's been a crazy 11 years. What was once a heavily criticized theme park is now becoming a truly realized theme park. Disney California Adventure opened on February 8, 2001 to really unexpected crowd levels. No, not the crowd levels that would cause long lines and crowded walkways, the crowd levels of a Ghost Town. The park was built to celebrate the history of California. A way to keep guests in the park, a way for them to see California at once. But then again, why have themed to a state that its already in and most of the stuff in it can be easily reached in a day? The park suffered low crowd levels due to various criticisms such as: 1. Theme- The quality of the theme was terrible. Paradise Pier was especially targeted with its cheap look, off-the-shelf rides and more.  2. Value- Most felt that the park wasn't worth the cost of a 1 day ticket. Some didn't understand why it was priced the same as Disneyland and y...

Disneyland turns 50!

It was a couple of days before July 17th, the day Disneyland turned 50. Me and my sister planned to be there on July 17th as our flight to the Philippines was on July 18th so it was a chance to get some Disneyland fix before the 3 week trip. We left home around midnight to find a extremely long line at the Transportation Plaza on Harbor. We were guided through the entire area and soon enough, they let us in to Disney California Adventure to wait it out until they let us in at 7am. I remembered waiting in the San Fransisco Area of the park and the soon the sky lit up in grey with the June Gloom. No attractions were open but some places that sold food were open to provide breakfast items (we never bought food while at DCA) Shortly before 7, the began letting us in. Since our tickets were scanned (the scanners at DCA gates was programmed to accept admission for Disneyland Park) we were let in through the big gates in between the DL Ticket gates. As soon as I headed into the park, we s...

The Summer is a Carousel of Color

Image
It was June 2010, Disneys most anticipated show "World of Color" was set to debut on June 11th. Since it was first announced in 2007, I eagerly awaited 2010 to come! When the show was being programmed, I kept myself updated with the help of my sister who was a CM at DCA at the time. As it got closer and closer to June, I was really getting anxious for the show. After seeing videos of how the show was being put together, I knew it would be one of 3 most anticipated things from the DCA Expansion project. Numerous rumors surfaced on soft openings for the show which turned out to be all false. Then my sister told me that there would be Cast Member Previews before the radio contest preview and the World Premiere. Of course I said yes! Its not an AP preview, but heck, its better! AP previews that were organized in the past few years didn't provide much chances. Youd have to enter a drawing and hope the picked you to attend. With a CM preview, it was easy to attend one if the...

The life of a dedicated Annual Passholder

Since 2005, i've been a dedicated Annual Passholder for Disneyland. I go there usually every week and I enjoy every year being one! I've made friends with a lot of people, mainly Cast Members and some fellow Annual Passholders. You might be asking, "How does it affect your life outside the park?". Well, to be honest, it hasn't really changed anything. I still go to school and play video games when I'm not at the parks. I still watch NBA and other things on TV as well. If i went everyday then that would be a whole different story. I've seen a lot of crazy stuff in the years i've been an APer for the park!
