Annual Passport Preview: Cars land and Buena Vista Street

Image
On June 9th, I had an opportunity to attend the first day of Annual Passholder/Club 33/D23/Cast Member Previews. I paid $75 to be there from 6pm-11pm with a Private World of Color showing at 10:15pm. Buena Vista Street: Buena Vista Street is a recreation of Los Angeles that Walt Disney saw in the late 1920s when he first arrived to California. Unlike Cars Land, anyone attending the previews can enter this land at anytime regardless of time period. This is an extremely different entrance area than the one I stepped through a year ago! The Red Car Trolley was on display and not running when I was there.  Inside the Trolley!  Me in front of the Trolley  The new Cafe features Starbucks!!!!! Buena Vista Street is a welcome replacement for Sunshine Plaza! After I ate at the cafe (Salami Sandwich with a Caramel Frappuchino). I proceeded to Cars Land which was  only accessed through the side entrance to the land fr

Disney Dreams: A new step to making Disney Park Firework Spectaculars?

Image
20 days ago, Disneyland Paris introduced Disney Dreams!. The parks new nighttime spectacular. Unlike firework shows of the past, Steve Davison combined the elements of everything he accomplished the past few years. The show includes 2 mist screens, a small fountain package for the moat and projection mapping on the castle and a neat fire package. The obstacle that the resort had the past few years was that France had a strict firework restriction. Most firework shows before Dreams only consisted of low level, in-park pyro. Steve Davison found a way to make his show, the best thing to happen to DL Paris by bringing in elements of World of Color and the Magic, the memories and You show in Walt Disney World and Disneyland. When I watched the show on Youtube, I was amazed on how Steve transformed the castle and had it do many crazy things not seen in a show in front of a castle. This was no doubt a culmination of his success as a show director and his team did a very good job. O

Disney California Adventure: A Theme Park Redeemed

Image
Disney California Adventure's New Gate and Entrance  It's been a crazy 11 years. What was once a heavily criticized theme park is now becoming a truly realized theme park. Disney California Adventure opened on February 8, 2001 to really unexpected crowd levels. No, not the crowd levels that would cause long lines and crowded walkways, the crowd levels of a Ghost Town. The park was built to celebrate the history of California. A way to keep guests in the park, a way for them to see California at once. But then again, why have themed to a state that its already in and most of the stuff in it can be easily reached in a day? The park suffered low crowd levels due to various criticisms such as: 1. Theme- The quality of the theme was terrible. Paradise Pier was especially targeted with its cheap look, off-the-shelf rides and more.  2. Value- Most felt that the park wasn't worth the cost of a 1 day ticket. Some didn't understand why it was priced the same as Disneyland and y
