Disneyland 60th Anniversary: Paint, Color and Forever Diamonds

10 years ago, Disney put on a "Golden" celebration to celebrate Disneyland in Anaheim, California turning 50. Now they aim to do it again with Diamonds which is a common symbol in wedding celebrations (used to be 75). This time, the emphasis will be on Nighttime Spectaculars which will once again feature advancements in technology in ways that have never been done before in Disney Parks! More information about the 60th will be announced in the coming months.

Last night, Disney Parks Blog readers got the chance to be at Disneyland to hear whats to come for the 60th and all 4 announcements are the 4 major attractions for the celebration.

Diamond Decorations

During the 50th, Sleeping Beauty Castle was decorated in beautiful golden decorations which featured 5 crowns representing a decade in Disneyland History. For the 60th, the castle will be decorated in diamonds and shades of blue and Carthay Circle Theatre in Disney California Adventure will also receive similar treatment as it will also get diamond decorations. The Castle is currently covered as it gets ready to receive the decorations.

Disneyland Forever!

For nearly 10 years, Remember Dreams Come True has entertained thousands since it premiered in 2005 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Disneyland. Now for the 60th, a brand new and even bigger fireworks show will debut that will no doubt be the must see show for the 60th. The new show titled "Disneyland Forever" will be the celebration of Walt's promise that "As long as there is imagination left in the world, Disneyland will never be complete". This brand new show will have the largest amount of projection mapping ever used in a Disney Park as all of Main Street as well as several locations throughout the park will be projected during the show.

Those that attended the announcement last night were treated to a small taste of the projection mapping on Main Street. Video recorded by Inside the Magic

Paint the Night!

Last year, Hong Kong Disneyland opened "Paint the Night" which is considered a 21st century version of the beloved Electrical Parade. That parade will make its US debut here at Disneyland as part of the 60th, bringing back nighttime parades to Disneyland! This version will feature several floats not present in the Hong Kong version.

World of Color: Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney

When World of Color debuted in Disney California Adventure in 2010, Steve Davison promised that the show will always be changing and he's made good on that promise as several changes were made which included a holiday show, encores and pre-shows. For the 60th, World of Color will be reimagined into "World of Color Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney" which will celebrate the dreams of Walt and his accomplishments from timeless animated films to Disneyland itself. Mickey Mouse will host this show! The refurbishment of the show fountains and equipment will be done on March 12th. The original World of Color will also resume on March 13th with the new version of World of Color to be programmed for its May 22nd debut. New effects not previously seen in World of Color is expected to be installed and used in the new World of Color.

This will be an exciting celebration and I'm excited to see these new shows as Disney always sets the bar with entertainment!
