Disneyland Diamond Celebration will shine bright like a diamond in the sky!






Rhianna reference aside, I couldn't be anymore excited about the upcoming Diamond Celebration at the Disneyland Resort! This new celebration will be as big as the 50th Golden Celebration that was known as the "Happiest Homecoming on Earth" and the "Happiest Celebration on Earth. But unlike 10 years ago in which all Disney Parks participated, it will be just the Disneyland Resort celebrating.

During the 50th, several things debuted during the course of the celebration at Disneyland which is as follows for both parks:

Disneyland Park:


  • Walt Disneys Parade of Dreams (Ended in 2008)
  • Remember Dreams Come True Fireworks Spectacular (Ended in 2014)
  • Buzz Lightyears Astro Blasters
  • Renovated Tiki Room, Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise
  • Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years (scaled back to "The Disneyland Story featuring Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln in 2009)
Disney California Adventure:

  • Pixars Block Party Bash 
  • Turtle Talk With Crush
  • Monsters Inc: Mike and Sulley to the Rescue

This time around, there are no new rides. There will be 3 new nighttime shows opening at both parks!



World of Color Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney: World of Color is undergoing programming and testing for this new show that will celebrate the legacy of Walt Disney. Back when I made the initial Diamond Celebration Blog Post:http://journalofadisneyfan.blogspot.com/2015/01/disneyland-60th-anniversary-paint-color.html , I mentioned that Mickey Mouse would host the show. Couple of weeks after the announcement, another announcement was made that Mickey would be joined by celebrity Neil Patrick Harris! He'll deliver his charm and comedic whits to this show and i'm confident he's a perfect match! He's also the spiel voice at California Screamin at DCA!



Disneyland Forever!: At the same time that World of Color Celebrate is testing, theres also activity at Disneyland Park as the new massive firework display is put together. Viewing locations have been confirmed to be the same main viewing areas: Main Street, Rivers of America and Small World. The Rivers of America viewing area will utilize the mist screens used in Fantasmic just like how they're also used in Halloween Screams during the Halloween parties. The Matterhorn will also be utilized for a massive projection surface. This will be the biggest use of projection mapping in any Disney Park. 



Paint the Night: The new nighttime parade will feature Owl City's "When Will I see you again" from Wreck it Ralph! Also looks like it won't feature the show stops that its Hong Kong Disneyland Counterpart has but it will have an app guests can download to help them interact with the parade. It'll feature a new version of the classic Electrical Parade drum float that guests have loved with he classic Electrical Parade.



Mad T Party: The popular Mad T Party at Disney California Adventure went on temporary hiatus back in December ,while the area it takes place in was used for a Frozen Night Party called "Freeze the Night!". While fans of Mad T were fearful of a no return (The Mad Hatter on the last night assured fans that they would be back in May) due to Disney's history of not reopening attractions after saying they were (Rocket Rods is a good example), Disney announced that the T Party would indeed return as the "Diamond T" Party! The new version will retain much of the popular figures of the original T (namely the band) but the Hottest Deck, a dance group will be relocated to the Hollywood Backlot Stage while they're original location will be used for something else.



Diamond Decorations

Sleeping Beauty Castle has already received its diamond decorations and it looks fantastic so far! The Carthay Circle Theatre at California Adventure will receive its decorations in the next couple of weeks.

This is shaping up to be a huge celebration. You're going to need at least 2 days to see them all! 


Oh and I have some news! I'm in the process of getting a Vlog set up on my Youtube channel. Its been delayed several times already but objective is to get it started at least by the time the Diamond Celebration will start!

Remember Dreams Come True and Disneyland Forever

Recently it was announced that the 50th Anniversary fireworks show "Remember Dreams Come True" which originally ended back in 2014 would be making a return. Meanwhile, the 60th anniversary show "Disneyland Forever" ended with the conclusion of the Diamond Celebration and as of now appears to be permanently retired (although with the current trend of bringing things back, Forevers return in a limited capacity wouldn't be a surprise). I don't usually compare shows since I find it to taint ones experience but I felt this had to be done in order to help what I'm talking about here. Disneyland Diamond Celebration: A look back to opening day of the 60th Anniversary

A year ago, Disneyland launched the Diamond Celebration which celebrated Disneyland's 60th Anniversary. Like the 50th anniversary before it, it was given a theme and several new offerings. The major ones were 3 new shows. To celebrate the launch, the Disneyland Resort had both theme parks open for 24 hours on May 22nd operating from 6am-6am the following day. While I had a lot of fun, i can't say the same for the thousands that came late only to find out that Disneyland Park was closed due to being full.
