Surviving Disneyland and California Adventure for 22 hours straight

On May 23rd, I spent 22 hours at both Disneyland and California Adventure. Both parks as well as the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, FL were open once again from 6am to 6am the next day. Both parks started out empty in the morning and then got more busier as the night went on. This is what I did that day that was the most exciting:

The Frozen fan inside me wanted me to do the Frozen Sing-a-long that was taking place throughout the day at the MuppetVision Theater in Hollywoodland. It was one thing to be excited to see it on the big screen again, but to actually sing along to the songs which i wasn't able to do in theaters (I didn't do the Sing a long in theaters because I wasn't sure if my theater was doing it) was very fun! Some people left over the course of the movie I'd let it slide since people thought it was just a fun show with the songs from the movie and not the full movie itself.
When I parkhopped back to California Adventure in the evening, I ran into a line at the Blue Sky Cellar which turns out to be the opportunity to meet Maleficent as she appears in the new movie starring Angelina Jolie. All I had to do was say the password and was given a card with the time I'd be meeting her (which was to start at 12:15am for me). She was really awesome and acted the way Maleficent was in the movie when I saw it a week later.

Then came the moment I went to the event for: World of Color at 3am in the morning! I got my fastpass as soon as I got to the park in the morning and got my spot on the Paradise Pier Bridge as soon as we were let in! The thought of seeing the show after midnight was really exciting and I'd be willing to do another 24 hour day just for a chance to see the show after midnight!

Overall, Disney did learn from the past 2 24 hour events they did and this was really organized. I do hope though that they only do these once every few years and not every year as the concept will eventually be tired out if done every year. But as long as they plan more fun things, then the problem fixes itself.

Heres some tips to survive a future 24 hour day at the parks:

1. Buy a portable charger for your media devices. Technically, you are not suppose to use the outlets in the parks (some are even too dangerous for your phones) though most cases see Cast Members not noticing but they have been cracking down on it. If you can't buy a portable charger, there are charging lockers in the parks that you can rent with either an outlet in the locker or one with the cables provided. I recommend bringing your own chargers and rent the one with the outlet as the cable ones might not work right. Most portable charges you can buy are either the charging blocks which require your charging cord for it to work or you can buy a phone case that has the ability to charge your phone. Mophie is the brand I would recommend.

2. Caffeine will surely be needed to get through the night. If the Starbucks locations at both parks are too long for you, other food places do provided coffee. Sure its not Starbucks but its still coffee. If coffee is not your thing, sodas with caffeine also work as well as the Monster Energy drinks. But remember with the Energy drinks, the doctors say not to consume more than 3 cans per day so use caution.

3. Be prepared to wait in long lines. As it gets to the night, more and more people will be packing in both parks so be sure to be ready for the long wait. Your media devices are a great way to kill time in line.
