Disney Movie Review: Big Hero 6

NOTE: The following review was done as spoiler free as possible. There may be some unintentional spoilers. If you have not seen the movie, beware.

On a scale of 1 thru 10, how would I rate BH6? A perfect 10!

Building off their success from "Frozen" last year, Disney releases "Big Hero 6" based on the Marvel comics of the same name. This is the first time that Disney has adapted Marvel Characters into a Disney animated movie which is a nice change of pace from having to shift through classic fairytales that they may have not used yet or had to have an original story pitch.

Set in a fictional city called San Fransokyo (a hybrid of San Fransisco and Tokyo), Hiro sets out to save the city from a mysterious villain with the help of his friends and his brother's robot "Baymax" which was created as a Healthcare robot.

Its been a long time since I cried in a movie theater and this movie managed to make that happen to me 3 times. A lot of their animated movies has always placed an emphasis on family as evidenced by the sister bond between Anna and Elsa in Frozen, the mother-daughter bond in Brave and finally, the brother bond between Hiro and Tadashi in the first part of the film. I can relate to all as I have a strong bond with my sister and parents.

As with any movie, theres always the pros and cons regardless on how it does.

PROS:

1.) Baymax: A lovable companion that i can compare to Olaf from Frozen. Baymax carries on the desire of Tadashi to help people and he does just that by helping Hiro in anyway possible.

2.) Yokai's Design: The villan design is dark and can be scary to small children. Reminded me of X from Cartoon Network's Teen Titans and Zuko's Blue Spirit disguise from Avatar the last Airbender.

3.) Hiro's Friends: These characters had a lot of personality and they are a great group of people to tag along Hiro and Baymax

4.) Frozen Reference: Fans of Frozen can spot 2 references to Hans from Frozen.

5.) Post Credit Scene: Just sit around for it. You'll be glad you did

6.) Villan reveal: If you liked Frozen's "Thing" then.....

CON'S:

1.) Screentime for Cass Hamada: Hiro's Aunt, while a fun character could've had a bit more screen time then she had.

Well, thats the only Con i could think of. Everything else was pretty much spectacular! If you loved Frozen, you'll love Big Hero 6! A new Disney Renaissance has begun!
